The magic of Bratislava covered in snow (A city without people pt.2)
The very first blog I have published was just as unplanned as this one. In March, we were at the beginning of the first covid-19 lockdown. The streets were, as we say in Slovakia, yawning with emptiness. Back then, people were scared and disciplined. Fast forward 10 months and we are in a similar situation. The only difference is that we have 50 times more cases and the streets are empty mostly because it is freezing cold outside.
I hesitated to go outside after 19 days of self-isolation, but I live in the city centre, and my views are amazing. I could not rob myself of the opportunity to see the streets covered in snow for the first (and probably last) time this season. I evaluated the situation to be safe, as it was freezing cold, we are in the middle of the second lockdown, and I could barely breathe through everything covering my face - keeping me warm. I took the opportunity to go to the pharmacy and on the way, snapped a few pictures. The following are some of my favourite streets in the centre of Bratislava. I can't see myself getting tired of photographing them. Ever. And all the snow just made everything a little more magical.
The photos are published in the order of which they were taken. Unfortunately, some parts are more watery than snowy, but towards the end, you will see the snowflakes again! Then my fingers turned into sausages, and I could not even press the shutter anymore… Still, I am forever delighted that I took myself on a date with my beautiful hometown. And now, let me take you. Enjoy!
The route I took, in case you were wondering :).
If you feel like spending more time on my blog, here is my first collection of the empty city from March 2020 for the comparison.
