Hello, I am Sari
I document people, movement, and the spaces in between. I value authenticity over performance and the quiet chaos of a creative process over a polished result. These are my favorite photos from the last few years.
CONCERTS & EVENTS
I see the stage differently because I used to stand on it. I document what happens in the spotlight and everything the audience usually misses in the dark. Whether it is a dancer, a comedian or a musician, I look for the transition between the act and the person. I value the honest moments over the ones that have been practiced a thousand times.
PORTRAITS
Most people are their own harshest critics. My aim is to bypass that. I want to show people how they look when they aren't second-guessing themselves. It is about the quiet confidence that shows up when someone stops performing and just exists in the room.
BEHIND THE SCENES
It takes hundreds of people to build a production. I document the process, not just the result. The gaffer taping a cable. The bronze dust on a studio floor. The quiet chaos before the lights go up. The mess that comes before the perfection. This is where the project actually lives.
OBSERVATIONS
No brief, no client, no deadline. Sometimes I walk for hours. Sometimes I sit in one spot waiting for a shadow to align with a crack in the pavement. It is about observing the things I usually walk past because I am in a hurry to get somewhere else.
