Falling in love with nature through photography (Day 7 - being grateful for NATURE)
This article is part of my December 2020 Gratitude series that help me end this year on a more positive and inspiring note.
My friend asked me yesterday how am I managing at home after the surgery. It did not take long to realize that the thing I was missing the most was walks in nature. I got used to not going to clubs, house parties or training sessions during covid. I still miss them, but I learned to live without them. Knowing it was temporary. But at this point, I would just like to go outside. To be outside.
People know that I am not a hike or mountain person. Not because I don't love the feeling of that instant achievement. I just always preferred to explore architecture or culture. At the same time, my most intimate connection with nature was always through the water. Heavy breathing, dripping hair and those ugly ass wrinkles on fingertips. Feeling at one with the world and at peace with myself. Seeing it, hearing in or being in it. Being it.
However, during covid something has changed. There were not many things that we could do, so walks in nature became the go-to activity. I was a little ashamed of this, but I learned the beauty of nature through my lens. When I was waiting for the butterfly to sit on a leaf. When I searched for sun rays highlighting a tree. Exploring the colours of dead leaves and textures of barks. Reflections, stones, clouds, patterns. But no matter how I got here, I am happy I did. And these are just a few of my captures that take me back to those places.
David Attenborough once told me (through his new movie A Life on Our Planet) to take care of our beautiful nature. So let's.
Let me know what is the place that makes you feel at one with the world and at peace with yourself.
