The art of lithography with Marian Komacek (Photo series: Life of an artwork)

A few months back, I had the privilege of visiting the studio of Marian Komáček, a renowned Slovakian artist known for his mastery of the rare art of lithography. He is one of the last people in our country still using this centuries-old technique. Until he can…

For those who may not know, lithography is a printing process that involves creating a design on a flat, limestone surface, which is then transferred onto a printing press. It's a complex and delicate process that requires a lot of skill and expertise. And there is only a finite number of limestone suitable for lithography…

It was fascinating to hear about the inspiration behind each work and to see the diversity of styles and mediums on display —literally, everywhere you look.

This is why I love spending time with artists and why I created this photo series. The atmosphere of each studio is always unique. Art, art, art and hundreds of random objects and quirky things without context that just add to the atmosphere. I left feeling inspired and grateful…
