25 feel-good movies that always put a smile on my face (Day 15 - being grateful for MOVIES)

This article is part of my December Gratitude series that aims to end the covid-year on a more positive and inspiring note.

As Christmas is getting closer, I am reaching for the movies that capture the essence of The Holidays bringing the warm feeling of Love. Actually, most of the films on this list are not even set during Christmas. However, knowing them Inside Out, they always touch my Soul and get me Spirited Away to the realms of heartwarming cosiness.

You just witnessed my first and probably the last attempt to be smart with puns in my writing!

Anyway… I am not a big fan of romantic gestures, but for some strange reason, I am the biggest fan of romantic comedies. There are movies admired for cinematography. One could spend hours studying the compositions, colour grading and award-winning performances. But the universe did not give us romcoms, and chick flicks to show us the complexity of the artistry. By not trying to teach us valuable lessons or showing the worst sides of human experience, rom-coms provide the ease of being, through watching someone else's happiness. They are entirely predictable and still completely rewarding. These are my guilty pleasures filled with make-overs, magic, high school love and of course - happy endings. And after I am filled with human love, I turn to animated movies. The rule of thumb here is - Disney touches your heart, Studio Ghibli touches your soul. And I like both of them to be touched equally.

I was told that the pick of my favourite series was a little woman-centric. If you felt like that, there is a high chance you won’t like this list AT ALL. But for all those that love things a bit cheesy, the following are a good reminder of little things to be grateful for every day. In no particular order or regularity of genre, this is the list of movies that, without fail, leave me feeling better than I did before watching them:
